Whilst researching for my summer project I came across this amazing silk tulle headpiece by Balenciaga. It's from his 1964 collection and is aptly named "mille-feuilles".
The tulle pom-poms are so soft and delicate but very contemporary at the same time. I would never have thought this kind of fabric could be used to create a structured headpiece, but it works beautifully.
Quite simply I love making stuff, any kind of stuff, but most of all cakes and hats. Trained as a fashion designer, I am as enthusiastic about showing people new skills as I am about learning them for myself. That is why I have teamed up with Back to Basics in Bethnal Green London to build a new community of designers and makers. Check here or on the Back to Basics blog for up and coming events and come along for some tea and make.
